Hola Amiguitos! I must say I have had a very busy time of it these past few months. Here is the newest member of our family Lulu on the left. Her sister, Celia Cruz is on the the right.Lulu has so much energy and loves life! She has turned her sister into a puppy.LuLu reminds us to seize the day! In between puppy training I have been dancing my heart out at the legendary Coffee Mill Dance Studio in Key West Fl as well as some of my favorite studio’s in New York City. This was the cit’s worst blizzard and I loved every moment of it!

Aside from hanging out with my family in the city I get to sharpen my hair and makeup skills with some of the best in the business.Im so inspired when I come back to Florida. These past several months I have seen more request for vintage style glamour. Some of my brides like to add a modern flair to the look with a change in the veil, the dress or shoes. So much fun!

Wet Wedding!Hello Fellow Romantics!

This is my favorite time of the year. It’s wedding season and love is in the air! I’ve been working like a beaver on my brides and bridesmaids. Creating the perfect hairstyle and makeup look is quite a process. It begins well before the big day and takes a lot of twist and turns.

As a recent bride myself I get it! Romantic chignons or soft beachy hair? Airbrush or traditional makeup? Is the ceremony on a windblown beach ,a chapel or even underwater? So many choices and I love the challenge!

Oh,and by the way,TV commercials are in full swing too. Check out the picture below. It’s my latest project.

I don’t want to sound like a broken record but this little Isla is stunningly beautiful! Whether it’s the magnificent sunrises and sunsets, the ever changing hues of the ocean or the incredible foliage, I can’t get enough of this place. VIVA CAYO HUESO!

Hello World!

May 4th, 2013

I’ve been swept off my feet by the world of ballet.

After hearing that I was too old and ballet was too tough

I took the plunge! And, I Love It! Classes are brutal and

I find my body changing, feeling stronger and more challenged

The coolest part : The energy and creativity of ballet

has inspired so much my Hair and Makeup Artistry. I feel

CALIENTE !!!! Again kudos to the great Kim and Jennifer.

I’m amazed !
Once again this tiny tropical island has blown me away ! The wedding of Jenn and Kelly was spectacular . The couples hair and makeup looked great with a hint of vintage flair and the ambiance was perfectly set at Ocean Key Resort by the talented Amanda Holz of As You Wish Weddings. She is fabulous. Beautiful breezes and sun filled skies completed a perfect day. But more than that was the incredible high spirited energy Jenn and Kelly bought to our island for a few days. With a diverse and dynamic group of families and friends from Seattle ,Texas and all the fantastic artists from The Big Apple, it was truly a great event. To top off my weekend I took a ballet class at a classic Key West studio called Coffee Mill Dance Studio– A converted coffee mill  that hosts top notch dance instructors and classes that are taught in open air meaning  no a/c, even in the summertime, but you will enjoy the tropical breezes that float into the open spaces of the studio. I’m sore, but I’m happy.
Congratulations to Jenn and Kelly

Back to Paradise!

March 8th, 2013

We finally made it back to Key West and not a moment too soon! 77 with a fabulous breeze. The island is packed : It’s both high tourist season and spring break time. Two things always strike me about Key West at this time of year: First is the unbelievable amount of color everywhere you look. It’s blooming season and every possible tropical plant you can imagine is in full, outrageous bloom. I find myself spinning around in place so I don’t miss the orchids high up in the palm trees, or the bougainvillea intertwined and fighting for the sun. The second thing about the island which grabs me this time of year is the utter abundance of cultural events: concerts, live theatre, gallery openings-rhythm and blues bands and on and on. Click here for a schedule of events or my personal favorite, the amazing Studios of Key West.
